Sclerotherapy is a relatively painless procedure designed to eliminate spider veins and some larger red and purple blood vessels found most commonly on the thighs and lower legs of men and women. During the procedure, a sclerosing solution is injected into the vein. The vein will blanch (turn white) then gradually disappear. A typical treatment may last 30 minutes and multiple treatments may be required depending on the severity of the condition. In most cases, up to 50% of treated vessels will be eliminated after the first treatment.

Immediately after treatment you will be asked to wear special support stockings to help keep pressure on the veins. Bruises around the treated areas disappear over the next several weeks. You may resume normal low impact activities immediately. Vigorous, high impact activities are restricted for 24-72 hours. Treatments are spaced apart in 3-4 week intervals.

Laser Therapy For Leg Veins
The Palomar Lux 1064 laser is a non-invasive laser that causes unsightly vessels to fade in a few treatments. During your treatment, light energy is delivered to the targeted vein in a series of brief pulses. The light energy is absorbed by the blood vessels, but not the surrounding skin. The laser heat causes a coagulation of the blood vessel, which is subsequently absorbed by your body. Both scierotherapy and laser treatments allow one to resume regular activates. Limiting sun exposure will greatly minimize the risks of discoloration after treatment. Call today for a consultation, 202-393-SKIN (7546).
