Chemical peels have been used for over a 100 years to improve the texture and quality of skin. As we age, the exfoliation process of our skin slows down and our skin becomes dull. Dark blotches, fine lines and signs of sun damage begin to appear. A chemical peel solution applied to the skin removes dead skin and stimulates the production of new skin cells. During your consultation with Dr. Isaac, you will learn about the different options available in chemical peel solutions.

Depending on your skin condition and skin type, the right chemical will be selected for you. Chemical peels can safely and effectively improve fine lines and wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, shallow acne scares, sun or age spots, and treat active acne.

Don’t forget to tell Dr. Isaac about any history of viral infections (cold sores, fever blisters, facial warts), history of poor healing, prior skin treatments such as laser resurfacing or accutane treatments.

What to Expect
The treatment feels like sunburn. Most patients feel a warm to hot sensation followed by a stinging sensation. The deeper the peel, the longer the recovery. A light peel will result in some redness and possibly some scaling for a few days. Medium peels will result in swelling, the skin will turn brown followed by peeling which can last seven to ten days. Your new skin is very sensitive so always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 before going outside. Dr. Isaac and her trained staff will prescribe a proper home skin care treatment to ensure proper healing.

All facial peels require a pre-consultation with the doctor an/or medical assistant in order to determine the correct peel for your skin type as well as the desired outcome. You may be required to pre-treat your skin with physician strength products 2-6 weeks prior to peel as well as follow a recommended post-peel home care regimen including a mandatory sun block SPF 30+. Peels offer the advantage of little to moderate downtime, allowing you to return to work or resume most of your daily routines.
