Sculptra® is an injectable poly-L-Lactic Acid that is a biodegradable material that has been safely used for many years for correction of facial soft tissue defects. Poly-L-lactic acid has also been widely used in the making of absorbable sutures. Sculptra® is primarily used to sculpt the face or fill contour deficiencies. Although only currently approved by the FDA for the treatment of lipoatrophy Sculptra® has been successfully used in Europe for many years for cosmetic indications. This filler provides a gradual increase in thickness in collagen over a number of treatments. Once the desired outcome has been achieved, results can last for up to two years although some touch-up treatments may be needed in the interim. Sculptra® is more than just another dermal filler because it actually stimulates collagen production. This collagen growth provides a gradual thickness of the skins dermis. Sculptra® can be combined with other fillers and other cosmetic procedures to produce a youthful rejuvenated face! With all fillers Dr. Isaac recommends you refrain from taking aspirin, ibuprofen, all aspirin related products (NSAIDs) vitamin E, gingko for seven days prior to treatment to reduce possibility of bruising with treatment. (Tylenol is OK!)
