facial Filler treatment doctor Washington DC

Juvederm VOLUMA is a treatment designed for restoration of volume loss especially for the mid face.  As we age, our skin slowly stops producing as much hyaluronic acid, causing loss of elasticity and volume. VOLUMA is an FDA-approved dermal filler specifically formulated to address hollowness in the cheek region of the face.

What is VOLUMA?

VOLUMA, from the Juvederm family, is a specially formulated dermal filler that can be injected deep below the skin in order to regain volume. Made from hyaluronic acid, VOLUMA’s thicker consistency allows for effective treatment of skin that is sagging or hollow, particularly in the cheek area of the face. Dramatic results can be obtained with VOLUMA in the right candidate, helping to bring back volume that has been lost with age.

VOLUMA can be used not only for volume restoration, but also for augmentation of the chin and cheekbones. With VOLUMA, certain patients can achieve a more prominent chin without the need for surgery! Cheekbones as well can become more defined with a simple VOLUMA treatment. VOLUMA can be a great choice both for people wanting a completely non-surgical option for volume restoration, and also for further augmentation during a surgical facelift.

Who is a good candidate for facial volume restoration?

facial facelift dermatology doctor alexandriaVOLUMA is a great option for people who want to try to dramatically restore volume to their face, obtain a more pleasing facial contour, or augment their cheekbones or chin. VOLUMA is generally best for patients who have started to experience a hollowing in their cheeks due to aging, genetics, weight loss, medical illnesses and medications.  Voluma can also lift the cheek, restoring a more youthful appearance to the face. Dr Isaac is an expert injector and always tries to give her patients natural looking volume restoration results.

Does it treat wrinkles?

VOLUMA is specifically designed for volume restoration and is not intended for surface wrinkle reduction. If you are looking for wrinkle reduction options, there are many other Washington, DC laser treatments and dermal filler treatments available such as Restylane or Juvederm.  VOLUMA can, however, be used in conjunction with other dermal fillers and treatments, so if you would like both volume restoration and wrinkle reduction, there’s no need to choose only one option! Different fillers can be injected during the same appointment. During your consultation, Dr. Melda Isaac in Washington DC will discuss the results you want and formulate a wrinkle removal and volume restoration treatment plan specifically for you and your individual needs.

Q: What is the difference between Juvederm and Juvederm VOLUMA?

A: Juvederm is a filler designed for wrinkle reduction. Juvederm VOLUMA is specifically designed for volume restoration and facial contouring. These fillers can be used in conjunction with each other to treat wrinkles and volume loss at the same time.

Q: Will this procedure treat wrinkles?

A: VOLUMA is not designed for the treatment of wrinkles. It is meant to be injected deep below the skin in order to obtain large-scale volume restoration. Dermal fillers designed for wrinkles are generally meant to be injected more shallowly, to smooth out specific wrinkles.
