Reducing fat and building muscle produces the sculpted, contoured body that active men and women desire but can’t always achieve through exercise and diet alone. CoolTone is the latest nonsurgical approach to body contouring that can tone and strengthen the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs using magnetic muscle stimulation (MMS) technology. Combining CoolTone with CoolSculpting® at our Washington, D.C. practice can create an attractive, sculpted silhouette.

What Is CoolTone?

Unlike CoolSculpting, a CoolTone treatment doesn’t use cold temperatures to kill fat cells. Instead, the procedure uses a strong magnet attached to the targeted area to stimulate involuntary muscle contractions. A single CoolTone treatment, which takes about 30 minutes, is the equivalent of doing 25,000 sit-ups. These repeated muscle contractions develop stronger muscle fibers and burn fat. CoolTone was cleared by the FDA in June 2019 to tone and firm muscle.

The nonsurgical body contouring treatment uses magnetic muscle stimulation (MMS) that pinpoints specific muscles. The magnetic intensity of the CoolTone device is 50 percent stronger than that of a competing nonsurgical muscle toning treatment. The involuntary muscle contractions triggered during a CoolTone treatment simulate a high-intensity workout without any downtime.

How CoolTone Works

How Cooltone works diagram1. By penetrating the skin and fat layers and targeting only the muscle layer with magnetic energy, CoolTone induces involuntary muscle contractions.

How Cooltone works diagram2. Similar to what occurs after sit-ups or other muscle-contraction exercises, targeted muscle fibers become stronger and more conditioned.

How Cooltone works diagram3. After 2 or more treatments, the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs are firmer and have a more defined and toned appearance.

What to Expect

CoolTone 500A CoolTone treatment is comfortable and takes about 30 to 45 minutes if performed as a standalone procedure. There isn’t really any downtime involved after the treatment, but you can expect the targeted muscles to be sore (similar to how you feel after a challenging workout). You can return to work or any other activities you have planned for the day without any restrictions. Most CoolTone patients begin seeing results about 2 to 4 weeks after the final treatment session and continuing improvement for several weeks after that. Follow-up treatments can help maintain the outcome.

Combining CoolTone With CoolSculpting

These 2 treatments complement each other, and we recommend packaging both during the same appointment to see more dramatic improvement and to get discounted prices. Combining the treatments simultaneously removes fat and builds up your muscle and definition, all with no needles, no incisions, and no downtime.
